JINKY'S UPDATE #27

Hi! --

I see some of you have not yet turned in your Surveys.  I'd appreciate it if you would.

ALSO, I am beginning to work on the commissions that I will send out in October with all the other Pledge orders.  So if you've selected and paid for a Reward Level that gets a personal commission of any type, please send your descriptions and references to me via  [email protected] so he can coordinate it all for me.

JINKY'S UPDATE #25

Hi! --

My Kickstarter questionnaires for BANZAI GIRL Volume 2 were sent out today via BackerKit to everybody, which means things are progressing!

A few of you tried to input your orders for Prints, or Add-On additional Prints, and they were incorrectly coming up as $30.  That glitch has been fixed and, when I ran a test order a moment ago, they came up correctly as $15 each.  Hooray!  

So if you were stalled by the glitch, please give it another try.

One great benefit of BackerKit is it created an Online Store that gives my fans and followers another chance to look at my project offerings in a clear, clean visual format -- because, I admit, the many Reward Levels of Kickstarter can be confusing even to me, and I'm the one setting them up!  

So if you weren't 100% sure what you were getting, BackerKit not only confirms each item, it gives you the opportunity to look at and select all the other items you may have missed!

You know what that means?

Time to go shopping!

JINKY'S UPDATE #24

Hi! --

So here I am, three-and-a-half weeks after my home flooded, and the insurance company still has not come back to me with a figure or a date when I can expect to start restoration.  :(

I'm still moving forward with BANZAI GIRL Volume 2, of course.  I've been gathering various elements, sketching out designs, and supplying everything to my letterer Kathryn Renta.

Here's a peek at her lovely lettering --

Meantime:  I've been practically in a fever over finishing up my BackerKit Questionnaire.  Look for it in your email later this week.

JINKY'S UPDATE #23

Team Banzai --

Hi!  Thanks to you, we reached $23,348.00 for our BANZAI GIRL VOLUME 2 Kickstarter.  So I'm now patiently (?) waiting for Kickstarter to release the funds -- probably at the end of next week -- so I can get the lettering and prepress work finished and get this graphic novel off to the printer.

If you were wondering why I didn't send out an update the morning after my Kickstarter ended:  My home flooded!  As I slept, the pipe behind my washing machine exploded, and many thousands of gallons of water gushed out -- until it sparked and shorted my smoke alarm system.  I awoke to a darkened home, every alarm shrieking, and water streaming down my hallway.  To my horror, it had flooded both stories of my home and causing many tens of thousands of dollars in damage.

For the next few days, I was swamped (so to speak) by insurance people, contractors circling like vultures to get the job, and water abatement people ripping out carpets and hard flooring, chopping into walls, hauling out soggy property and damaged cabinets, and running massive fans and dehumidifiers.

...you get the idea.

I suspect it will be weeks before the restoration work is underway.  Meantime, I'll be working around this fine mess getting my BANZAI GIRL Kickstarter ready for the printer.

Meantime:  I have submitted everything for BackerKit to review.  Once BackerKit launches, they'll handle the  questionnaire and allow folks to order any BANZAI GIRL or related items they may have missed.  I have a feeling every penny will help with the flood restoration.  

A LOOK AT WHAT'S COMING!

What's more, on the advice of several fellow comicbook professionals who do Kickstarters regularly, they've advised me to launch another new Kickstarter as fast as I can, so that above and beyond print/fulfillment costs I can earn enough to help me with renovation expenses.  

 What might that be?  I'm thinking about a TWO-BOOK full-color comics Kickstarter, and this is one of those books --
