JINKY'S UPDATE #37

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, Everyone! --

* I got some good news today: Tony from Capital Imports emailed this morning that my books have cleared Customs and will be delivered to me to exactly one week -- Tuesday, December 24th.  (Not by Santa, I presume, despite the date.)

* That means I plan to begin shipping the print orders beginning the day after Christmas -- 12/26/19.  It will take me a few weeks to get out hundreds of orders, but I will keep everyone updated as the batches of orders go out.

* BackerKit has not given to me a satisfactory workaround for their Digital Downloads glitch, so I'm getting advice from some folks with more Kickstarter downloads experience than I have.  So I hope to have that resolved by my next update.  Crossing my fingers! 

* A few fine folks have written asking me about my NEXT Kickstarter, the one I hinted at months ago.  Although I've completed my behind-the-scenes work on it, I won't be launching it until I complete all the fulfillments from this one AND hasve the digital download problem resolved as well.  I've already solved the print delay problem for it.  

In the meantime, Banzai Girl has written her Christmas list for Santa.  How about you?

JINKY'S UPDATE #36

Hi, everyone! --

So I've begin sending out links for the digital downloads.  I had difficulty sending my original attempts last week, so I am this time sending direct links off Glass House's FTP from my personal email [email protected].  

The first one was for BANZAI GIRL Volume 1.  If you did not receive yours, please contact me at [email protected].  Several of your email addresses bounced back, and some of you did not respond to my update requests via BackerKit.  I can't send your digital downloads if you don't respond!  So please do.  :)

I also sent our a link for BANZAI GIRL Volume 2, but somerthing is wrong with the file.  We uplaoded the original file correctly, but for some reason the link is offering the same file repeating.  Go ahead and skip that file while we fix the glitch and re-send.

After both of those volumes get through correctly, I'll resume with sending EXPOSURE Volumes 1 and 2, the SPECTACULAR, and the screen savers.

I'm also fulfilling what print orders I can, until the palattes of books arrive from China.

Please let me know when you receive your packages and how you like them.

JINKY'S UPDATE #35

Hi! --

So while awaiting the shipment from China to arrive, last Friday I assembled and sent off a first batch of orders.

Today I got out some more.

So every couple of days, I'll get more shipped out.  

Some orders are only for existing items, so I'm getting those completed and in the mail.  I am also shipping out custom commissions and large prints, because to prevent damage their large size means I must mail a separate package for any books.

As you get your goodies, please post that you've received 'em and if you like what I've sent.  I appreciate the feedback.

JINKY'S UPDATE #34 -- THE PRIVATE COMMISSIONS & THE PRINTING

Hi, everybody --

Did you see the cover art I did for ARCHIE this month?  I created the cover art for the premiere issue of ARCHIE 1955!  Here's a look at it without the cover logos --

I've also been hard at work on completing the private commissions that so many of you ordered from me!  As of next Wednesday, I'll have them all finished.  That means, beginning next weekend, I will start shipping out the commissions!  And if things go as planned, the following week I'll start shipping out the prints.  And 10/31 is my target date to email out the links to all the digital editions!

I wanted to share more of these private commissions here, but a few of them were a bit more on the naughty side. So perhaps I'll hold off on that.

 With all the good news comes a bit of the bad: My printer in China let me down.  I turned in my files for BANZAI GIRL: Volume 2 to them in early June.  They should have printed and shipped by books in July and had them to me in September.  That would've given me plenty of time to process orders they way I wanted to and deliver everything on or before Halloween.  Yet after they receved my print files, they kept insisting that I failed to follow the template and delivered the files wrong.  For TWO MONTHS, we fought back and forth on every page, redoing them again and again -- until I realized that they had sent THE WRONG TEMPLATE for me to follow.  Their bone-headed screw-up lost us TWO MONTHS.

And, you see, in that time I'd planned to launch more Kickstarters with future BANZAI GIRL goodness -- YES! -- but their delays threw everything into the wind.  So I pledge my NEXT Kickstarter, I will have already it printed before I even start it.

So what now?  Well, the book is finally printed.  The printer was fully paid awhile back, so I was surprised to learn they hadn't shipped my books weeks ago before they closed down for some Chinese holiday they failed to warn me about.  :(

Those are the photos that printer Carol Carol sent me this week.  I am awaiting word that they're on the boat.

I'll let you know more as soon as I get more info!  My goal is now to ship out everything by end of the year.  I apologize for the delay, but I'm doing all I can.  I figured shipping out the art and prints ahead of my original 10/31 date is a good start.

JINKY'S UPDATE #33 -- IT'S PRINTING NOW!

Hi, everybody! --

After a lot of stress and struggle, BANZAI GIRL Volume 2 is printing in China.  I have to admit,  it's been a lot more difficult than it should have been. The printer rep sent to me a template to use to prep the files but, when I turned it in, she kept complaining that my book was formatted incorrectly.  After weeks of correction after correction, I realized that she sent to me the wrong template!! So I had to reformat the book yet again.  They Fed Ex'd to me a mockup, I approved it, and it has finally gone to press.

While all those shenanigans ate up weeks on the calendar, we are still (so far) ON TIME to ship the books out end of October, exactly as stated in my Kickstarter.  (I'm glad that I built so much time into the schedule!) If the printer gets them out the door in the next two weeks, we will be in good shape.

I've been informed that the President's new tariffs will cost me about 25% more than I expected to pay for our books, but fortunately BackerKit brought in enough money to cover those costs.  :)

In other news, I only have one more commission to complete before those are all finished.  They've been looking great!  Here's one I just completed, with a Halloween theme --

Meantime, Hurricane Doriane didn't affect my town very much, so everything is good here and I can keep working -- on cool stuff like this! --
